Rock-a-Bye, Sweet Baby James

Weaning.

For moms, just the thought of that dreaded word makes us wince. Taking something away from our babies that they love doesn't come easy. Whether it's breastfeeding, pacifiers, thumb-sucking or a bottle, all of them eventually have to end. For Jericho and I, it's the first two, and only those two, thank goodness! We've cut out the morning and nighttime feeding, replacing it with 5 ounces of whole milk in a cup. Naptime is different; he's not quite as tired as he is in the evening, so he needs that extra help in soothing. As far as the pacifier goes, we're taking our sweet time with that. Brooke at the WIC office reminded me that the pacifier can have an effect on front teeth, so it's time to start cutting down on its use. I don't want him to need braces when he's older because his mom couldn't bear to ask him to go without a pacifier at night! Right now he's cutting a few teeth so he's not feeling well, so we're going to slowly work on the pacifier thing when nursing is done.

Also, I'm extremely excited and happy all over for my friend Bliss...she is having a baby boy today! She was due March 22nd and has been completely uncomfortable and frustrated, but for some reason Dr. Terry wouldn't induce. At her latest appointment on Wednesday of this week, Dr. McCarten gave the go-ahead, and Bliss and her husband Steven (he's in Michael's company) went in to the birthing pavilion on Post at 7 am this morning! I've been thinking about them all day and I can't wait to meet Nathaniel! I think part of the reason I'm so excited is because I remember how excited I was the night before I was to go in for my induction. Michael was home on R&R from Afghanistan and only had 18 days with us, so Dr. Terry agreed to induce while he was home. I'd gone 3 days overdue anyway...we were ready to meet Jericho! So I know what she's feeling and what she's going through. I'm hoping and praying for the best delivery for her and Nate.

That's all the news I have. It's not a lot, but what's there is good. That's better than no good news, right? As Grandma Hart used to say, "I've got good news and bad news. The bad new is, I don't have any good news. The good news is, that's all the bad news I've got."

So I will end this post with a question, mainly out of curiosity. As I sit at the computer and look around my kitchen/living room area, I have to ask: What's the most frustrating room/area in your house to clean and keep clean?

Ciao!

  1. Ugh the 'closet room' for sure! James keeps all his army gear just piled up on the floor and it drives me insane! Plus for what ever reason when ever we got someplace for a few days the cats love to show their unhappiness by puking in that room. Fun times. Fun times.

  2. The kitchen! I swear it gets so dirty every day. Sean didn't want a dishwasher..go figure! So dishes keep piling up and it needs to be swept everyday.

Although I have to say Sean is now rethinking the decision on the no dishwasher.
