What's That You Say?

I think by now everyone has witnessed Jericho's babble. He speaks with importance and urgency, using hand gestures and waving his arms as if he needs for you to understand him. He's always talking, indicating, gesturing....communicating. In his own words, in his own language, in his own way.

I got a call from EDIS (Educational and Developmental Intervention Services) on Monday. Mary Jo said there was a bit of a "concern" on the communication segment of his 18-month wellbaby questionnaire at his last doctor visit, and they'd like to do an in-home assessment of his communication skills. I, personally, do not believe there's a problem. Every child is different. So Jericho isn't saying actual words yet. So what? He's babbling a lot, talking like he knows what he's saying, and he's showing improvement as far as I can tell. That's enough for me, but I am curious to see what Mary Jo thinks, and it wouldn't hurt to have her input and advice, even if I don't use it.

The apartment is slowly coming together. We still don't have Internet set up yet; I have to pay off the remaining balance with GoldNet, then let the guy find out if he can install in Sarmego. I'm hoping he can, because I've heard bad things about Telecom, our other Internet option. We'll see.

That's about all the news I have today, so I'll leave you with a great book suggestion: I Love a Man in Uniform, by Lily Burana. Burana is an exotic dancer-turned journalist with a wit and way of writing that makes me jealous. It's kind of an autobiography, only starting with how she met and married an Army soldier. Want to know exactly what it's like to go through a deployment? She describes it in perfect detail. I'm only halfway finished with the book and I'm already recommending it to everyone. I can't wait to finish it!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Sarmego huh? You're not too far from me. I live in Grumolo.

I'm reading that same book! It's pretty good isn't it?
