It's official - we have a Casanova in the house. Jericho has learned to kiss! I don't know who taught him, but I think it began when I started blowing kisses to him from his door when I put him to bed at night. He won't wave at people, he won't say "hi," so I figured I'd try blowing kisses. Well, he caught on and ran with it! He even does the "smack" sound, and it's so cute. I'll have to get it on video. Maybe that's something I can do while Michael's away.
Yep, Michael's away again. He's training in Germany for several weeks. He left bright and early (well, not so much bright as what-the-heck-am-I-doing-up-at-this-hour early) this morning to be on Post at 4 a.m., which brings me to my rant for today. Why on Earth does the Army need to leave so early in the morning for an 8-hour drive? Yes, we got the entire weekend with him. He was home for my birthday, which was a nice surprise for me, since they were originally supposed to leave that morning. But why not schedule an extra day for training, let them have a few more hours of sleep in the morning, wake up and see their families for a few extra minutes, then leave at a decent time? Do you know how hard it is to wake up a deeply-sleeping soldier at 3 am and make sure he's out of bed by 3:15? I'm gradually being forced into becoming a morning person!
Rant over.
I was thinking this morning, one good thing about the guys being away is that I get to make cupcakes again for their return! I'm already looking through my cupcake book for ideas in case I need to special-order candy, frosting or any other little decorative goodies. If there's anyone in the Vicenza area who'd like to help me with my next project, bring it on! I'll take all the company/help I can get! I'm also getting back to the gym, though this time my Toddler in Tow time will be in the afternoons, after naptime. These last few days with Michael have been busy, meaning we stay out all day, meaning Jericho doesn't get a nap. That usually leads to me dealing with the I-had-a-Crabby-patty-for-lunch toddler who doesn't want to take a nap in the afternoons, doesn't want to be alone in his playroom so I can get laundry done, and gets fidgety in his high chair during dinner. The next three weeks will run strictly on his schedule. No tantrums here!
I also want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes, cards and phone calls! I had a great birthday with Michael and Jericho and I don't feel one bit older!
I know what you mean about the early mornings. The only good thing is that it keeps the goodbye short and sleepy. The daytime goodbyes leave me weepy. If I've got to drop him off at 4 am, I'm too bleary to do more than give him a kiss and go back home to bed.
