Caught Between "The Rock" and a Hard Place

So it's a "no." Denied. Apparently the memo wasn't even entirely considered. There were 7 reasons we felt we deserved to move, but the only one important enough to warrant a decision was the fact that we are planning to have a second child before we leave Italy. The Company Commander, good ol' CPT van Etten, decided that, since we are only planning to have another child and not actually pregnant with another child, we're just fine and dandy in the cardboard box we call home. According to Michael, van Etten said if I were actually pregnant, then he would consider signing the memo. So even if I were, we'd only get a closer "consideration." So we can't fit half our belongings in the house. So our son has no yard to play in. So we're tired of our neighbors waking the baby up at night. So he doesn't have room to play or crawl. So the only place he does have to play is surrounded by cords and wires that can't be moved beyond his reach. So Jericho has no room for a crib and has to sleep in a pack 'n play. Doesn't matter. Two small bedrooms, one closet and a living room/kitchen/dining room combo with no room for more than a couch and a chair is just fine.
Now I understand why Army wives are always frustrated. It's not always dealing with deployments, lockdowns, Staff Duty, CQ, nights alone or some rumor started within the FRG. Sometimes it's getting your hopes up, knowing in the back of your mind that that's the last thing you should do because you WILL be let down. Sometimes it's the constant disappointment with the actions and reasoning of other people, then being asked to support those people by attending meetings, luncheons and outings because it's "good for the family."

But most of the time, it's all those things and not being able to do a damn thing about it.
