You Spin Me Right Round...

Well, we have a signature. Now, I'm not counting my chickens here (please don't smite me, memo gods!) but we're one step closer to moving. Next is the Battalion Commander's signature, which could happen today, hopefully. And to think it all started with one little tiny e-mail...

Ok, so SSgt Navas is a co-worker of Michael's, and usually they're butting heads with things at work, which leads to Michael coming home angry at Battle Company and, in turn, me ticked off at the world. Navas is not our favorite. Anyway, his wife is active in our newly-headed FRG (Family Readiness Group - read: drama-filled rumor and gossip mill) and there was a scheduled luncheon at Il Fauno on Thursday. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it, but after waiting so long to be denied a signature on the memo, missing lunch with Mrs. van Etten wasn't exactly going to cost me sleep. On Tuesday I got a call from Navas' wife Yisel, and after a 10-minute discussion, she offered to drive all the way out to Ponte di Barbarano to pick me up if I wanted to go. I said "maybe," and she e-mailed me so that A) I'd have her e-mail address, and B) I could e-mail her back my physical address if I decided I wanted to attend the luncheon. Tuesday night I got the bad news of the denied request, so Wednesday I e-mailed her back and politely declined to attend a function organized by a group I felt does not support my family. Weeeellll, didn't that just get the ball rolling! Yisel e-mailed me back her apologies and offer of support if I needed her for anything, and apparently immediately called her husband at work to find out what was going on and for him to fix things ASAP. In turn, the memo was actually read, 1Sgt Hill got involved, the Platoon Leader got an earful for not fully paraphrasing the memo to CPT van Etten, the memo got signed and Michael got a promise that it would be moved up to Battalion level for signature right away. And I have become the "official" b***h of the FRG :) Hopefully we'll get good news again today. Stay tuned.

In other news, Jericho used his sign for "more" on Thursday! He was in his high chair having a snack when I caught him with his fingers up to his mouth. We'd been working on that sign for a couple days and he finally did it on his own! I'm SO proud! Daddy also brought him an awesome new toy! He was so overwhelmed with joy, he couldn't decide which toy to play with first. And he loves to spin around in the seat!
