It's officially Fall. Like my friend Susan said, the fog is rolling in, the damp is settling and it's just...blah. Don't get me wrong, Fall is my favorite season - I love the colors and the cooler, crisp temperatures, especially with a warm cup of coffee on the balcony in the morning. Fall in Italy is beautiful to me, especially on the drive home. We see hills and cliffs, houses and vines with colors no crayon could ever outdo, and it puts you in the mood to carry your camera everywhere. But for a stay-at-home mom with only one car that's taken to work by her husband, it means coming up with new games to play inside and exploring the neighborhood in the Big Giant Stroller. I've put so many books on my Amazon Kindle I'll never have time to read them all. I've exhausted my online shopping resources. The dust bunnies under the couch died a long time ago, probably making room for more. For the past few days I've been cooking, baking cookies for Michael's squad and trying new recipes out on him. I've been preparing batches of fruit and vegetable purees to freeze and store for Jericho - I LOVE making his food. Most of the time I will get on a roll and do several different veggies and combinations, enough to fill a quarter of the freezer with ice cube trays. For lunch today he had sweet potato/corn combo and he loved it! I wish I had a food mill, though, because the Italian hand mixer I have doesn't blend corn too well. But Jericho's at the right age to start on chunkier foods; we just have to start him out with combos to get him acquainted. We got the crock pot out this weekend and Michael made a hodgepodge stew that was wonderful! It's a good thing I don't get cabin fever very easily, but I don't think the same can be said for Jericho.
