Freedom!

That's what Jericho is going to say when he wakes up tomorrow morning and sees that our couch, oversize chair and end table are gone! It's just floor....and floor. The furniture we had was a set that my mom had bought several years ago, long before she married and long before I met Michael. It's served us well, but we both think it's time we found a nice home for it while it's still in great condition and bought our own furniture. Now I'm debating over whether or not I want to call Housing and see if they'll loan us a sofa or chair until we get our own. Housing furniture would be ok with me because then we won't have to worry about keeping it clean. We'll see.

We also got a truck! Michael and I were both frustrated with lack of transportation for me and burned out on dealerships and salesmen. My friend Michelle mentioned that there was an SUV in the BOSS lot (a car lot on Post where people sell their own vehicles) and that I should take a look. The SUV was brand new and slightly out of our price range, but there was a Chevy S-10 for sale there that looked like it was in great condition. Michael liked it, so he made the phone call, went to the bank, and voila! I have my Mazda back! The truck is a '91 but looks like it could be a lot younger. And there's a little interesting fact about it: the original owner bought it at the dealership on Post here in '91! Yep, it's a Caserma Ederle truck that's being passed down from generation to generation. So thanks to Michelle, I can now take Jericho to playgroup and doctor appointments without Michael having to leave work to pick us up! We're both quite happy.

Speaking of doctor appointments, Jericho had his 12-month well baby visit on Wednesday. He hates these exams, so thank goodness it was short. Dr. Novek checked him out and asked about his eating and sleeping habits, and we talked about his transition over to whole milk which I started that afternoon and is going well so far. He weighed in at 22 pounds and is right in the middle margin on his growth percentile chart. He's right on track! He also got 3 vaccinations that I wasn't prepared for, and now looking back I wish I'd delayed one of them. Seriously, when's the last time anyone had measles?

Last weekend I went to Post to pick up his portraits, and I have to say they turned out well. I've got everyone's envelope addressed and ready to send out so they can see how handsome he's become! Our household has been and still is sick, so it may be a few days before I can get them out. Michael has had the Caserma Ederle Stomach Virus of '09 - caught it from me - Jericho has a runny nose, and I woke up this morning with a sore throat. Thanks, Cupid.

Have a great weekend!

  2. Glad you have a "new" truck. Sean was eyeing a BMW in the BOSS lot but I told him he needed to hold off on it. :)
