Today was an exciting day for us! Michael had a class to attend on Post but it was cancelled. He called me before he started for home and said, "Get your shower. We're going to the Euro Rally." So we packed up the Big Giant Stroller, headed to Isola Vicentino, found a spot for the car along the tiny, winding roads, and hiked for a bit up in the hills for the best view of the oncoming cars. We met another married couple who have been friends of ours since we first got to Italy; Damon is a car enthusiast and was excited to take some pictures. Michael had the video camera and I had the DSLR. We must have looked like we were watching a tennis match, watching the cars zoom by! After the race, we made our way to Piramidi Mall for a late lunch at McDonald's and my first cannolo and a caramel frappe.
Damon took some amazing photos of the cars....maybe if he'll let me steal a few, I'll post them here. For now, here's what I have:

On the way

Standing on the wall for the best shot

Geni and her daughter Xsenia

The first car!

"Those cars are fast, Mom!"

The race program and route map
The race route went right by this house

A view from our spectator spot
This guy blew his horn and waved
Xsenia and Jericho were feeding each other snacks
That looks really cool! Where there a lot of people? You guys remind me of the people who watch the Tour de France :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's about what it was like. There were people scattered all up the side of the road and gathered in small groups in the top of the hills. At the stop point for the cars toward the bottom, the carabinieri blocked off the road for spectator vehicles, so you have to park and walk.
ReplyDeletehow did you manage to post so many photo's?
ReplyDeleteI posted as many as Blogger would let me!
