1. If you see a mother or father traveling by air with a small child, help them. Even if it's just putting their carry-on suitcase in the overhead compartment, it's appreciated. Very much. This much I know and depend on when we fly. To Heath, who sat next to us on the 8-hour flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Philadelphia: God bless you. If you hadn't been on that plane, I would have been found in the airplane lavatory floor lying in the fetal position, surrounded by my hair. Your halo is a lot shinier after that flight.
2. If there is a parent with a small child on your plane and the child is crying, restless or upset, don't fret or complain. Imagine how the parent feels, and then remember that it's only a few hours, not a lifetime. It'll pass. Then remember that, when you land, you can go home and go to bed. In most cases, they can't.
3. After living in Italy for 3 1/2 years, I've come to appreciate the slow, laid-back driving in North Carolina. Yes, people tailgate here, but at least when they do, you can still see headlights.
4. Jericho came down with something last night. After driving 25 minutes to WalMart for a nose sucker, I walked out with a birthday card, a plug-in vaporizer and Boogie Wipes. Only when I got home did I realize I really need to work on my memory skills. Or start making a list.
5. Sudden warm weather in North Carolina gets more responses on Facebook than Tiger Woods' "I'm Sorry I Got Caught" speech. I think it's a good thing.
6. Jericho's birthday party was a total blast, but I don't think I'll be doing another 3-tier Dr. Seuss Topsy-Turvy fondant cake anytime soon. At least not without 3 other sets of hands. It's back to fancy cupcakes for me!
7. I recently made a trip to Barnes & Noble to pick up a much-anticipated copy of Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street, by Michael Davis. I was so excited to find it on the shelf, I cried a little. When I saw that it was in paperback...well...let's just say people looked at me.
8. Taking good outside pictures in Winter is hard. Wordless Wednesday has suffered greatly, but I'm trying.
9. Two months home really isn't long enough. Last June, I thought 3 weeks would be plenty. This time around, 2 months had to be more than suitable. If we go through another deployment, I'm moving in with my mom.
10. A new haircut really does make things all better.
Ok, now I feel better! See? I told you they were random.
have a great weekend!
