A Step Toward Personal Health

This week has been a kick in the rear for me so far. On Tuesday, I had several moles removed from my back and side and sent to be tested for signs of skin cancer. It runs in my family, so even though I do love to sit on my front balcony during Jericho's naptime - more to improve my mood than anything - I have to be careful of the amount of sun I actually get. I have to keep an eye on Jericho's time in the sun and make sure he's slathered in sunscreen, because sunburns, especially blistering ones, at a young age can greatly increase your chances of developing cancer as an adult. I've only taken my bandages off once since Tuesday because I can't bear to look at the scars, but they seem to be healing nicely. Yay for getting to wear open-back tops and tanks soon!

I've also been taking Jericho "play running" on the football field on Post a lot. At first he stays in the stroller so I can make 6 laps around the track, then he gets to stretch his legs and run off some energy. On Saturday, we're registered for Messy Art Time at the Arts & Crafts center. It's for children 6 months to 5 years, which is nice because there really aren't many programs for children Jericho's age on Post. What few programs there are fill up so quickly you have almost no shot at getting in. With the Messy Art Time class, there are several classes scheduled through the rest of the year so that will give us something fun to look forward to! Jericho is a little Picasso at home, always asking for his "colors" and paints. I'm excited to see how he enjoys our fun time on Saturday. Being a boy, I'm sure he'll require a bath when we finish!

Michael seems to be doing well. Most days I get a text message or two from him, and on occasion I get to talk to him online or have a full text conversation. He doesn't talk about what's going on where he is, but I can always tell when he's in a good mood. We're both looking forward to this deployment being over!

Have a great rest of the week!

  1. What? No before and after pictures?

All kidding aside, I really hope that the results come back with no problems.

You and Jericho have fun painting!
